PWS Design Studio Visit

Around three months ago in early May, my colleagues and I from B&Q travelled to Newcastle to visit a design studio and manufacturing facility to learn how bespoke composite quartz worktops are designed and produced. I had been looking forward to this trip for quite some time, as it provided a valuable opportunity to deepen my understanding of composite quartz worktops and the manufacturing processes behind them.

During the visit, we were introduced to three different surface collections: Silestone, a hybrid surface made from minerals and recycled materials; Dekton, an ultra-compact surface manufactured from a sophisticated blend of raw materials used in glass and porcelain; and HI-MACS, a solid surface composed of natural minerals, acrylic, and pigments. As we explored the showroom, we were genuinely impressed by the exceptional craftsmanship, premium quality of the worktops, and the innovative display concepts. The thoughtful integration of lighting and design features beautifully showcased the versatility and aesthetic appeal of each surface, making the visit both inspiring and highly informative.
